Magic Fairy Garden Event

What began with a simple gift concept for children, has grown into a hot item these last few months. Which is why I am happy to announce the roll out of my second line of magic fairy gardens, each with a unique theme!

What’s even more exciting is this set of garden kits are designed around a theme. Choose between one of the following make-your-own garden sets:

  • enchanted forest
  • beachside
  • day at the lake
  • flower power

In celebration of the release I’ll be holding a special event on Saturday, March 12th  from 1:30 pm – 4:30 pm at the Marion Gerrish Community Center & Thrift Shop in Derry, New Hampshire.

Be sure and stop by to meet and greet with fellow garden enthusiasts and pick up one of the first themed kits before they’re gone.

Red, White and Bloom happened this Veteran’s Day!

Yes, I was born in Canada however, home to me now and for the past several  years has been the United States of America.   My husband is an American citizen, I have a son that was born in Tampa, Florida, and both my grown daughter’s significant others are American’s… I don’t think it gets any closer that that!!

When I share things about the 4th of July, or several U.S. Holidays, I do have some, sadly that ask me, why are you celebrating, you aren’t even an American – makes me shake my head honestly.

No matter where you live, no matter what day it is, saying “Thank you” is something you should do over and over, each day of your life!   My idea to do “Red, White and Bloom” this year was inspired when I read about another florist in the U.S.  who had done it in the past (Thank you SAF for those amazing emails with tips and such) and I thought, yes, I must do this in my sleepy little town of Chester, NH!   Did I know of any veterans? Not really, but it was super easy to ask and then the names started rolling in.   The plan was simple, put together small bouquets and personally deliver them to vets and say “thank you” – 2 small words that can make such a difference!!

I am heading out shortly, with several bouquets and several  names – I would have loved to do more but financially, that was all I could afford   – I can’t wait to ring doorbells and see smiles when I hand them flowers and say “thank you for your service”

Nope, I am not an American citizen but, I do live in the Land of the Free because of the Brave” and I am fortunate that those men and women, and their families, some who gave all and all who gave some,   are here for me to put a smile on their faces.

You should thank a veteran today!  Heck, thank a veteran every day!   God Bless America!

Why “Just Because” Flowers?

Think about it… there are certain occasions whereby people expect to get flowers right? Valentines Day for one, probably another, as it is one of my busiest days, Mothers Day, people like them on their birthday too, but imagine the impact your gift has on the recipient when they get flowers, out of the blue, “Just because”

Don’t underestimate the power behind giving flowers “Just Because”. What does the recipient really remember? Those “Hallmark Holiday” flowers or the spontaneous ones that took them by surprise – It speaks so much more from the heart! Your special someone will know that your adoration compels you to express it not out of obligation (Valientine’s Day, or an Anniversary), but out of a pure, simple, just-can’t-wait -another-minute-to-tell-you-I-love-you. “Just because” occasions are probably the most appreciated and most effective acts of kindness when it comes to relationships and expression through gift giviing.

I can guarantee you, it is a far more meaningful way to express how much you care.

Petal it Forward with Lady Slipper Creations on Oct. 7th, 2015

Thousands of Petals Set to Brighten October 7th  in Chester and Derry, Londonderry, Dover, Hampstead, NH, and Boston, MA

New Data Shows Emotional Benefits of Flowers;

Lady Slipper Creations – Innovative Floral Design LLC. Encourages Busy Commuters to ‘Petal It Forward’

Chester, NH, 9-23-15 — Lady Slipper Creations – Innovative Floral Design LLC. will be hitting the streets of Chester, and Derry on 10-7-15, handing out hundreds of flowers to busy commuters to help brighten up their week, as part of the ‘Petal it Forward’ program, in partnership with the Society of American Florists (SAF), of which Lady Slipper Creations – Innovative Floral Design is a member. ‘Petal It Forward’ is in response to the release of new data by SAF showing the positive emotional benefits of flowers.

University research reveals that flowers have an immediate impact on happiness and a long-term positive effect on moods. Now, a new survey has found that, when it comes to flowers, it’s just as good to give as it is to receive. With this data in mind, the Petal It Forward team is not only spreading happiness to lucky Chester, and Derry residents who receive the flowers, but arming these recipients with the tools they need to Petal it Forward and spread happiness to others: An extra flower bouquet  to share with a loved one, coworker or even a stranger.

“We see the positive impact day in and day out when we make our flower deliveries,” said Karen Flanders  of Lady Slipper Creations. “People love to get flowers ‘just because’ so we wanted to create random smiles today, and give people a chance to do the same for someone else.”

In March 2015, SAF conducted a survey of 2,500 people throughout the U.S. to uncover the impact of flowers on Americans. The results revealed the many benefits of flowers, including the positive impact flowers have on one’s emotions and happiness, and backed up previous research studies on flowers conducted by Rutgers, Harvard and Texas A&M. (See www.aboutflowers.com/research more information on the university studies.)

The following are highlights from SAF’s recent survey results:

  • When it comes to happiness, it’s just as good to give flowers as it is to receive: 88 percent of Americans report that giving flowers makes them feel happy, while 80 percent reported that receiving flowers makes them feel happy.

  • Just being around flowers improves your mood: 76 percent of Americans agree that having flowers in their home or office improves their mood.

  • The best reason to receive flowers is “just because”: Women (92 percent) are more likely to agree with this, but the majority of men (three in four) also share this sentiment.

  • Florists to the rescue! Nearly four in 10 Americans indicate florists have helped them in a past or current relationship; most frequently to say “I love you,” or schedule a surprise delivery.

“The impact of giving or receiving flowers is powerful and memorable,” said Flanders. “It can turn an ordinary day into an extraordinary one.”

Flanders  and the Petal It Forward Team will give away hundreds of flowers to people on the street. After receiving their flowers, recipients are asked to spread the happiness by gifting their extra flower bouquet, and sharing their happiness on social media using #petalitforward.
